Joint venture partners Meta Housing Corp. and LA Family Housing have officially broken ground on construction of Silva Crossing, a 56-unit permanent supportive housing project in Sylmar.

The nonprofits have invested $30.5 million into the development, which will provide 53 studios comprised of 400- to 550-square-foot dwellings for homeless people. Work on the site, located at 12667 San Fernando Road, is expected to be complete in July next year.

Meta Housing Corp. has been active in the San Fernando Valley, where other projects have included turning the former Green Arrow Nursery property in North Hills into housing; the first phase of the five-story, 365-apartment Mission Gateway project at 8811 N. Sepulveda Blvd. in North Hills; and another Sylmar complex that was completed in 2017 called Sylmar Court, which has 101 apartments.
