The site of an Encino church will transform into 146 senior apartments, according to a filing with the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.
Century City real estate developer Geneva Street Partners and Denver’s Spectrum Retirement Communities will collaborate on the proposed complex set to rise at 17500 Burbank Blvd., where Bethel Encino ELCA, or Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, now stands. Senior housing specialist Vessel Architecture has designed the project.
The joint venture plan calls for the demolishment of the existing mid-century church buildings so that a new five-story tower with 238 studio, one- and two-bedroom units plus parking for 167 vehicles can be erected.
About 146 of the apartments will be designated for independent older adults. Another 60 apartments will be devoted to assisted living housing and there will be 32 memory care rooms.
Property features will include multiple outdoor decks on the structure’s upper levels, landscaped courtyard and a swimming pool.
Construction is scheduled to start in May next year and run until May 2024.
The property, which is located just north of the 101 freeway, sold to Geneva last May for $8.1 million.
