Metro Plans Warner Center Bus Route in San Fernando Valley

The San Fernando Valley Service Council of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has recommended a new circulator bus route connecting the Orange Line with Warner Center.

The buses would operate every 10 minutes during the day between the Canoga Avenue station of the Orange Line south to the Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center on Burbank Boulevard. The current Orange Line station on Owensmouth Avenue would be eliminated.

The service is expected to start in June after the authority, or Metro, conducts marketing and community relations outreach in the spring. The Metro board will take up the proposal next month.

The route would have 10 stops with buses leaving the Canoga Avenue Orange Line station, going north on Canoga to Vanowen Street, west to Owensmouth Avenue, south to Oxnard Street, east to Canoga, south on Canoga to Burbank Boulevard and ending at the Kaiser medical center before making a return trip.

The Valley Industry & Commerce Association welcomed the service council’s decision as critical to the continued success of the Warner Center area.

“The new Metro service plan for Warner Center will greatly improve opportunities for residents, employees, customers and students to connect to important community resources such as the Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center, Pierce College, Westfield Topanga and the Village, and the Warner Center Corporate Park,” Stuart Waldman, president of the Van Nuys business advocacy group, said in a statement.
